Didn't like the first two Mortal Kombat movies from the '90s? Now Warner Bros. is taking another stab at the franchise with a Mortal Kombat reboot projected for release in 2021.
The new Mortal Kombat movie will find James Wan producing and Simon McQuoid directing and it'll descend upon theaters in just two years. That means you've got plenty of time to find a moment to sit down and watch the first two Mortal Kombat movies, because you either haven't seen them or haven't cued them up in a long, long while.
Pre-production on the movie is set to start this month, and shooting is going to start in Adelaide, Australia later this year. According to Australia's Steven Marshall, this Mortal Kombat film will be one of the biggest productions Adelaide has ever seen.
Unfortunately, there isn't really any information to go on when it comes to determining what this particular Mortal Kombat adventure will actually be about. Luckily, for now you have the inimitable Mortal Kombat 11, which is out now on all platforms. Our own Ozzie Mejia awarded it a 7 out of 10:
"Mortal Kombat 11 is a solid package, but one that's going to drive completionists up a wall. Those who are satisfied with the fighters that come out of the box will enjoy the refined gameplay and the different ways to play both alone and with friends. The Story Mode was a disappointment to me, but is worth experiencing to see how the overarching saga that started in the Mortal Kombat reboot concludes. If you're looking to get every cosmetic or are even targeting a specific cosmetic, Mortal Kombat 11 is going to aggravate you with slow unlocks and multiple currencies."
