Quantic Dream has a number of cinematic and remarkably grim experiences that were previously available only as PlayStation exclusives. Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human are breaking free of their exclusivity bonds, however, and will release for PC via the Epic Games Store. Not only that, but players will be able to check them out in demo form ahead of their individual release dates.
Even though news of Quantic Dream PC ports only arrived somewhat recently, all three of the aforementioned titles are now available for pre-purchase over on the Epic Games Store. Even better, they're all fairly heavily discounted as part of the current Epic Mega Sale promotion. Even though the PC ports aren't yet available, players can place their ordres now and scoop them up for $10 each — or $30 in the case of most recent release Detroit: Become Human.
Speaking in a press release, Quantic Dream co-CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere spoke about how the demos can give players a glimpse at all the hard work poured into the studio's dramatic releases.
“Bringing our last three interactive dramas to the PC platform will enable new audiences to experience what Quantic Dream games are all about,” he said. “Through these demos, gamers will have the opportunity to look into the hard work and dedication we have put into the PC versions of our beloved titles. For those who have never played a Quantic Dream title, this will be a great opportunity to experience the unique nature of our games.”
In the case of Detroit: Become Human, the studio's latest (and previously PlayStation 4 exclusive) release, the unique style and unnerving narrative caused our own Bill Lavoy to more closely examine the path our own world seems to be following. From his Detroit: Become Human review:
"The world that Quantic Dream gave me to explore is only a short leap from the one we’re living in now, and the ideas presented have left me contemplating the role AI could play in our lives sooner rather than later. How would androids impact our personal lives, our economy, or our approach to global conflict? When Elon Musk said we should care about AI advancements I knew he was right, but Detroit: Become Human has shown me why."
There are no specific release dates for the demos of Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, or Detroit: Become Human just yet. However, we expect to hear more about them as the games inch closer to their PC release dates.
