Following its PS4 release early last week, Operation Spectre Rising is now live for Black Ops 4 players on PC as well as Xbox One. Comprised as an "assassni-themed update" to the game, Operation Spectre Rising offers up new maps, new gameplay modes, and an all-new Specialist known as the Assassin for fans to check out.
Speaking in a post made on the official Black Ops website, Treyarch co-studio head Dan Bunting detailed the drive behind Black Ops 4's new Operation Spectre Rising experience.
“The community has anticipated Spectre’s return for a long time," Bunting said, "and that’s inspired us to build Operation Spectre Rising all around this shadowy, fan-favorite assassin and the wetworks theme. This new Operation delivers lots of new game modes and fun ways to play Black Ops 4, including some really cool changes to the Blackout map following Spectre’s dramatic introduction – players won’t want to miss this event!”
Aside from new maps and modes, the biggest draw to Operation Spectre Rising will undoubtedly be the new Assassin Specialist class. Making use of a number of stealth-oriented attacks such as the "Shadow Blade," the Assassin focuses on agility and raw melee damage.
Beyond these additions, there are a few new changes to Blackout, including a shift in the landscape thanks to the recent flooding caused by the Hydro Dam explosion. Finally, the game's Zombies mode gets a few new updates, and new Black Market cosmetics round out the entire package.
Operation Spectre Rising went live on April 30 for PlayStation 4 users. With that said, the new content is now live for Black Ops 4 players across both PC and Xbox One, effective on May 7, 2019. After installing a short update, the new content should now be live for all platforms.
