If you happened to catch the very convincing "Left 4 Dead 3" trailer that was making its rounds online yesterday, hope you weren't fooled by it.
Valve has confirmed (via PC Gamer) that the trailer was nothing more than a clever ruse and has nothing to do with a new Left 4 Dead game, unfortunately. People were of course speculating that it could very well mean a new Left 4 Dead title was on its way, but alas, that is not the case.
The video simply popped up on YouTube with a random filename on a random account, and it seemed as though Valve could have been playing with fans and acting coy – but that's not the case. It doesn't seem so far out of the realm of possibility of something that the company might end up doing.
Of course, it doesn't seem as though Valve is actually doing anything with Left 4 Dead 3 just yet, even though people have been clamoring for a new game in the zombie series left and right ever since the second one debuted. It's a great series, and one that we desperately need to return to in the realm of zombie games. It's about time we've gone back to this particular universe, wouldn't you agree?
For now, since the video isn't real (so Valve says right now, anyway) you can still marvel over its high quality. It's definitely convincing enough to be a real Left 4 Dead 3 trailer, that's for sure, right down to the little details. Perhaps it's a sign of things to come, and all is not lost. We'd certainly love to hear something from Valve, potentially at E3? Maybe something with the upcoming Valve Index? Hey, anything is possible, after all.
In any case, let us know what you think of the video in the comments below. Were you fooled even for a moment? This is a safe place, no one is going to judge you.
