With the release of Borderlands 3, and all the streaming that comes with it, linking your SHiFT and Twitch accounts is a great idea. There are a host of benefits for linking these two together, but the main one is the Borderlands 3 ECHOcast Twitch extension. The whole process to link SHiFT to Twitch is super easy and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.
To begin the process of linking your Borderlands 3 SHiFT account to your Twitch account, you will first need to ensure you have an account for both of these services. Both of these accounts are entirely free:
After signing up for a Borderlands 3 SHiFT account and a Twitch account, you can begin the process of linking them together. Ensure that you are signed-in to your SHiFT account, which can be done through the Borderlands website or through the Gearbox Software site.
With your SHiFT and Twitch accounts linked, you will now be ready for everything Borderlands 3 has to offer. Part of this is the ability to use the Borderlands 3 ECHOcast Twitch extension. This extension allows you to interact with a streamer’s game by inspecting their Vault Hunter profile, inventory, and even their skill tree.
As an added bonus, during the Borderlands 3 gameplay reveal stream on May 1st you can participate in the Rare Chest Event. By having your SHiFT and Twitch account linked, you can opt-in to this event and get a chance at earning some loot for when the game launches on September 13.
Linking your SHiFT and Twitch accounts is an excellent way to add more functionality to Borderlands 3. While the primary use will be to inspect a streamer’s character setup, it’s also useful for special events where things can be earned and unlocked in-game. If you haven't already, remember you can also link your Amazon Prime account to Twitch and use the free subscription to help Shacknews, it's a small gesture that helps us a lot.
