The booming voices of Mortal Kombat are something that series fans have come to take for granted. Fans are just used to hearing a big booming Shao Kahn voice yelling "Fatality!" or "Flawless Victory!" So what happens when NetherRealm presents the option to change the announcer voice?
Apparently, such a thing will be possible in Mortal Kombat 11, as revealed on Monday's Kombat Kast stream. Out of the box, only one announcer voice will be available in the MK11 Options menu. However, there will be a way to get multiple announcer voices going forward, including a way to get a Kronika announcer voice on day one.
To unlock the voice of the MK11 big bad, players need to simply link their copy of Mortal Kombat 11 to the recently-upgraded Mortal Kombat Mobile. Doing so will unlock the Kronika announcer voice for the console version of Mortal Kombat 11. Players will also receive rewards for the mobile. The mobile rewards are 40 Souls and a special pack that includes a guaranteed Mortal Kombat 11 character to go along with their growing roster of characters that includes everyone from the previous Mortal Kombat X mobile.
The implication here is that the door is open to more announcer voices in the future. No hints have been given as to who they might be, but expect more information down the road. Whether those announcer voices will be free or for a nominal fee remains to be seen.
Will you be switching to the soothing tones of Kronika or will you stick to the gruff echoing calls of Shao Kahn? The choice will be yours when Mortal Kombat 11 arrives tomorrow. Yes, it's out tomorrow! It'll release on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. For those interested, be sure to check out Shacknews' full review.
