Super Smash Bros. Ultimate just pushed out the version 3.0 patch to Nintendo Switch fans, except there is one problem. No one can download the darn thing. Many users are reporting errors communicating with the eShop and getting the download to begin. We have the answer to what Error Code: 2137-8056 is, but you might not be happy.
This eShop server error code appears when the Switch is unable to connect. A "server communication erro has occured. Please try again later." message will appear, and users can just try again.
Nintendo provides some potential solutions on their official support website:
If the console is already up to date, restart it by holding down the POWER Button for three seconds, then select "Power Options" > "Restart."
Restarting your network devices may resolve this issue if it is related to the devices being unresponsive.
If the DNS you are attempting to use is not working, entering an alternate DNS may resolve this issue.
If possible, place the Nintendo Switch within 10 to 15 feet of the wireless router to improve the signal strength during troubleshooting.
Metal objects and electronic devices may interfere with wireless signals. If you have any of these, such as filing cabinets, speakers, power strips, glass, or cordless phones, next to your console or wireless router, move them away.
Many routers support both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequency bands. If your router supports both, set up a new Internet connection and connect to the band you are not currently connecting to. Many routers will have default SSID names that label whether the connection is 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz, but if you're not sure, you can review this information within your router's settings.
Many folks are frantically refreshing their Smash Bros. Ultimate downloads on Nintendo Switch right now, and it appears that the eShop servers can't take the stress. Keep trying. Never give up, never surrender, and eventually we will be able to play as Joker on Mementos. Might as well take a look at the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update ver. 3.0 patch notes while we wait for eShop to get the lead out.
