World of Warcraft has been going strong for over ten years now, and Blizzard currently has no plans to bring the MMO’s story to a close. In fact, a recent developer Q&A with Community Manager Josh Allen and Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, it was confirmed that no new Allied races are planned for Rise of Azshara, the latest big patch coming to World of Warcraft.
The Q&A, which took place March 21, includes a lot of great information for World of Warcraft fans to soak up. In the session Allen and Hazzikostas covered an assortment of questions, including topics like measuring “fun” in WoW, as well as how they plan to update the Caverns of Time portal and other travel updates coming to the game. One of the biggest nuggets of info, for Allied players at least, came when user Portergauge asked a question regarding the future implementation of more Allied races.
In response, Hazzikostas stated “We’re open and excited to add new Allied races where it makes sense. There certainly isn’t a plan where every patch is going to have a new set of allied races.” He did mention that future patches will introduce some new Allied races, but that’s of course not information they are willing to talk about just yet. Fans can also rest assured that they’ll be advised of any new introductions like that, as they always have been.
The Q&A continues for a good bit, covering several great topics and even talking a bit about WoW Classic, which according to Hazzikostas will launch with three types of realms: Normal, PvP and even Roleplaying. He also confirmed that there are no plans right now for an RP-PvP realm, so fans looking for that kind of experience will need to wait.
I highly suggest checking out the entire Q&A session if you’re a World of Warcraft fan. Even if you aren’t, it’s interesting to see how an MMO veteran like Blizzard plans to continue to support and grow a game that’s been around as long as WoW has.
