There's a new AI class coming to Hunt: Showdown as of the next update, and he's on fire. You can see him come to life when update 5.0 goes live, and things are totally gonna be lit.
The Immolator is coming to Hunt: Showdown, a new enemy that will remain quiet and dormant until a Hunter slides on by. When one gets close, it'll start charging and then burst into flames when it's shot at. It resembles a walking, burning corpse already, as you can see from the making-of blog via the official Hunt: Showdown site. Lots of rotting, burning flesh.
He's a tormented guy," said Abdenour Bachir, Hunt Character Art Director. “When he's idle, you don't see how dangerous he is. He's just walking around, suffering… The moment you shoot at him he ignites, and starts running at you, or running around creating havoc." Sounds like someone you wouldn't want to run into in a dark alley, that's for sure.
“When you hear the hive screaming from far away, for example, you feel immediate tension. You know that if you don't take care of her straight away you have a big problem," he continued. "With the Immolator it can go either way. If you shoot him, he gets worse because he ignites and runs at you, but you can also use him against other players. If you need a distraction, just shoot him from a distance and he'll try to attack anything in range that moves. He definitely adds something interesting to the whole mix of the gameplay. He's spicy. He's unpredictable."
Hunt: Showdown ending up winning the Shacknews Best Early Access Game of 2018 award. Tech guru Chris Jarrard sang its praises thusly.
"As the game works towards a final release, it has received new maps, hunters, gear, and monsters. As expected, the game gets regular balance adjustments and bug fixes as a part of the early access process. While Hunt: Showdown is still technically in the oven, the team at Crytek have already delivered a horrifying shooter experience that draws you back in for more. For this reason, it takes the top spots as the Shacknews Best Early Access Game of 2018," he said of the title.
Crytek's Hunt: Showdown is coming to Xbox Game Preview this spring, as it partners with Microsoft for its triumphant arrival spring 2019.
