Borderlands 3 may finaly see its long-awaited reveal at PAX East 2019. Gearbox sent out a teaser tweet image on social media today. Please take a look.
The image states March 28 will be a day to pay attention to happenings in Boston, MA. Slightly cut off in the picture is the exit number three. Obviously, this is a hint at a third game in the Borderlands series. After doing some Internet digging on Twitter, I noticed that the official Borderlands account has liked the tweet from Gearbox. This is about as close to confirmation as teasers can get in 2019.
Before the hype train kicks into full gear ahead of PAX East 2019, fans of the Borderlands series should probably temper their expectations. It is hard to say if we will get an actual chance to play the game at PAX East or if this is a teaser of an announcement and nothing more.
This comes at a time where Randy Pitchford finds himself in the middle of a legal battle with a former Gearbox employee, so it will be interesting to see what role he plays in the PAX East 2019 reveal. The company has also been very quiet about the Project 1v1 demo that was shown off at E3 2018.
It will be interesting to see whatever Gearbox has to announce at PAX East this month, but the ice appears to be breaking after years of dead silence regarding Borderlands 3. We can only hope that this isn't some teaser for Borderlands 2 VR DLC, or else there could be a riot in Boston on March 28. Be sure to follow Gearbox on Twitter to keep a track of all of their cryptic tweets ahead of the announcement, and keep it locked on Shacknews for everything Borderlands leading up to PAX East 2019.
