The Epic Games Store is continuing to grow and expand, with new features seemingly coming every other week.
The latest addition to the Epic Games Store includes a new search function, which it previously didn't include when it first launched. It took around three months for it to be implemented, which is a bit strange. Even if, as designer Sergey Galyonkin notes on Twitter, the store only had three games to begin with, a search function is quite the basic component of a platform that plans to feature multiple titles.
According to Galyonkin, there are additional goodies coming to the platform as well, such as pages. The Epic Games Store is in need of some of the same bells and whistles that its competition includes right now, but it is still in its infancy. It's accruing new games and exclusives at a rapid rate, however, so we'll probably see more growth like this going forward at an even faster pace.
It has an even cooler setup right now, with a plan for free games every two weeks. The practice kicked off with offering Subnautica and Super Meat Boy back in December, and Epic Games has kept its promise with a series of free titles since then, with a wide selection of titles for players to choose from. The latest rotation includes Slime Rancher and Oxenfree.
This isn't anything new for online gaming stores, as Steam, GOG, Twitch, Discord, and other services do similar things, but it's still a good way to keep the platform in the good graces of gamers looking for more reasons to start utilizing Epic's store instead of others. It remains to be seen what else Epic will be adding in the future, but at least it looks like there's some kind of movement when it comes to letting folks know that this isn't even the store's final form.
