Rejoice, all ye frugal gamers, for Conan Exiles can be played entirely for free on Steam this weekend. The Funcom-developed game was one of the biggest and most nudity-filled role-playing releases of 2018, and managed to garner high acclaim from both critics and players alike. Now, gamers can step into the Hyborian Age and fill their eyes with all the bare skin they can tolerate entirely free of charge thanks to the upcoming Steam Free Weekend.
Aside from getting a taste of the game for free, players also have the chance to check out everything that's new in Conan Exiles. According to a press release for the Steam Free Weekend, the game has seen the addition of two new landmasses, inlcuding a dense jungle to the east and frozen expanses to the north, as well as new gameplay mechanics like climbing and farming, plus all-new dungeons and tweaks to combat.
Things are certainly moving and shaking for Conan Exiles developer Funcom. In addition to treating players to a free trial run through the studio's expansive RPG, the team is also slated to work on an upcoming game set in the Dune universe. Revealed around the end of February, Funcom will develop the new Dune game alongside the release of Legendary's upcoming film adaptation, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and star Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgard, and Josh Brolin.
Don't miss out on the chance to play Conan Exiles for free on Steam this weekend. The Shacknews crew had a lot of fun with the title around the time of its release, with our own Chris Jarrard's official review calling the Funcom release "the current high-water mark in open-world survival."
