Talk about a killer comeback. Friday the 13th: The Game is stalking players all the way to Nintendo Switch this spring.
Developer Gun Media is bringing the bloody game to the Switch with the release of Friday the 13th: The Game Ultimate Slasher Switch Edition. It's set to include all previously released content and paid DLC, including the Jason Kill Packs, both Counselor Clothing Packs, and the Emote Party Pack. It won't come with the Kickstarter-exclusive "Savini Jason" model or the clothing pack that was made available to backers, but players will get just about everything else.
This is a great move that should make fans happy, considering the game was effectively kept from releasing additional DLC for the versions of the game already out on the market. This is thanks to a legal battle with the original Friday the 13th's franchise screenwriter Victor Miller, who's working to take back the rights to the characters he created for the original film.
“We’re happy to be bringing Friday the 13th: The Game to the Nintendo Switch with the help of our partners at Black Tower and Nighthawk. The Nintendo Switch offers a unique experience, in both social settings and on the go, that we feel work very well with Friday the 13th: The Game,” said Daniel Nixon, Gun Media’s Director of Communications.
But while Gun Media can't put together any new content for the series, which doesn't sit well with fans still, there's nothing technically stopping the company from working on dedicated servers for consoles or taking care of what's already out, especially since Switch owners needed a chance to try it out.
There isn't an official release date just yet, but it should be hitting the system soon enough, so make sure you've got all your teenage slasher equipment ready to go.
