Twitch spotlights female creators for Women's History Month

February has flown by and Twitch is switching gears to highlight a different marginalized group in a slew of ways. For Women's History Month, Twitch is shining a spotlight on female creators all the way to the last day of the month while also raising money for a worthy cause.

Throughout all of March, Twitch will be raising money for the 1000 Dreams Fund BroadcastHER Grant, which provides scholarships to young women who stream across the United States. The fund also supports the BroadcastHer Academy, which supplies funds to established female broadcasters (1-3 years of experience) so that they may create educational and inspirational content for other young women interesting in opportunities in gaming or live video broadcasting. Here's a snapshot of what to expect from Twitch this month:

Twitch will feature a rotation of female streamers on the homepage daily, specializing in everything from competitive gaming to creative arts.
On March 8 (International Women’s Day), notable female creators (schedule below) will participate in a 24-hour stream on Twitch’s homepage, including a special women’s empowerment edition of Twitch Weekly, followed by a one-hour panel hosted by Twitch’s Head of Diversity & Inclusion, to talk women in gaming and allyship.
Twitch will also be raising money throughout the month for the 1000 Dreams Fund BroadcastHER Grant to provide scholarships to young female streamers across the United States.

Along with incredible streamers like ImperialGrrl, MissDoitBig, Pokket, and many others, there's a face (or voice, rather) being spotlighted that you may recognize from somewhere else. Katie aka Pikachulita, one of the co-hosts of the Coins 2 Continue podcast, has a Twitch front page slot in the first week. Via her official Twitch channel, Pikachulita will be going live on the front page March 4 at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM ET. You can head over to the official Twitch blog to get the full schedule. "I'm extremely excited to have been offered the opportunity to represent black women, and in general, women of color on the Twitch front page, especially since the community is often not as accepting of people who look like me. I want to use this as a way of telling those people 'Look at me, look at us, we're here, we aren't going anywhere.' I also want to shout out the other ladies who are next to me celebrating Women's History Month on the front page. Y'all are gooing to do great. Let's represent!"

Women's History Month is an opportunity to take your support of women and turn it up a notch. Show some love for all women, including queer, trans, women-of-color, and non-binary women however you can. Twitch is provided us with a cool way to do so by cycling through some faces we may not already be familiar with on the front page of the platform, so tune in and see if you find someone entertaining.
