Not to be outdone by rival Samsung, Huawei unveiled their own foldable smartphone at MWC19. The Huawei Mate X features a foldable Fullview Display that bends outward offering three viewing configurations.
The Huawei Mate X will fold back-to-back with a patented Falcon Wing Mechanical Hinge that uses over one hundred components. My Model X also has Falcon Wing doors, but apparently there is room in the world for two hinges to be called Falcon Wing. The Mate X's hinge folds outward as opposed to the inward-folding design of the Samsung Galaxy Fold which was announced last week during MWC19. This process appears to lead to a more thin and compact design with the folded phone measuring in at only eleven millimeters thick, while the phone measures only 5.4 millimeters when in tablet mode.
Tablet mode brings a similar multitasking functionality that exists in the Galaxy Fold. The outward folding design allows for some more interesting features, much like the Royole FlexPai.
The new Huawei Mate X will boast the world's first 7nm 5G multi-mode modem. Balong 5000 and Kirin 980 will be powering the blazing speeds coming at some point in the future to support for 5G rolls out. The phone will also feature a 4500 mAh battery to compensate for the increased power consumption of 5G. The Mate X will ship with 55W Huawei SuperCharge capability, allowing users to charge 85 percent of the phone's battery in just thirty minutes.
Huawei is offering the Mate X with 8 GB of RAM and 512 of storage for $2600. It is set to release later this year, and is another phone for Milleh and plenty of other Shackers to think about dropping massive coin on.
