Need some extra gnarly tunes to rock out to while you go about your everyday business?
New Blood Interactive has you covered, with Andrew Hulshult's brilliant DUSK soundtrack, which is now available on YouTube in its entirety. Hulshult, audio engineer at 3D Realms, Audio Director at Inteceptor Entertainment, and responsible for some of the most awesome music around (Rise of the Triad, Bombshell, DOOM) has curated a sick collection of sounds here that you won't want to miss out on. Plus, it's all free.
DUSk is an interesting riff on '90s shooters, inspired by the likes of Doom, Quake, Blood, Heretic, Hexen, Half-Life, Redneck Rampage. It's comprised of three different campaign episodes where you fight off mystical cultists, possessed soldiers, and take on a number of other different enemies with swords, rifles, shotguns, rocket launchers, grenades, and a whole lot of other stuff meant to make everyone go boom. It's all meant to be evocative of retro action, so if that's what you're looking for, you'll definitely find it here.
As far as the music, DUSK features an appropriately metal soundtrack that should punctuate your retro killing sprees nicely. It's two and a half hours of screeching mayhem that also comes along with some pretty trips visualizations as well, and not gonna lie, it might be pretty appropriate if you played it in a haunted house – save this one for October, maybe. "Hand Cannon" is an especially awesome track, if you want to skip to that one first.
If you like what you hear, you can buy the entirety of the album via Andrew, which includes such titles as "Murder Machine Inc.," "Handgun Harmony," and "Departure to Destruction." Yup, that's metal, alright. Let us know what you think in the comments below, and get ready to fully rock the hell out.
