If you’re planning to dive into Anthem, the latest adventure from BioWare, then you’ve got quite a journey ahead of you. Unfortunately, the game servers have already been plagued with issues during the early access period, and those looking to play have found themselves constantly getting disconnected. If you find yourself being booted from the game quite often, then there is something you can do to minimize the disconnection issues.
If you find yourself struggling with disconnects in Anthem, then you aren’t the only one. I spent a majority of the weekend trying several different things to sort out a connection issue I was having which kept me from even being able to finish the opening mission of the game. Thankfully, I discovered a solution, and now I can share that same information with you.
If you’re having a lot of server connection issues while playing Anthem, then I highly suggest looking into forwarding your ports for the game. If you aren’t familiar with port forwarding, basically you allow a connection through your router using a specified set of ports. This can often allow the data from the game servers to transfer through without any issues, making your connection more stable.
There are some risks involved if you aren’t running a firewall on your operating system, but that’s something that most OS come with today. If you aren’t familiar or comfortable with port forwarding, then the only other suggestion I really have at the moment is to be patient and wait for EA to sort out the issues they are having with their online servers.
If you are familiar with port forwarding, then you can go ahead and log into your router’s admin page. To do this you’ll need to acquire your router’s IP address. This can often be found by running ipconfig in the Command Prompt on a computer connected to your network. Once your have the IP, login using the router’s admin info and then look for the port forwarding area in your settings.
If you’re forwarding ports for Anthem specifically, then there are a couple of different ports you will need to forward, all of which are based on the platform that you are playing on. We’ve outlined them all below.
If you’re playing on PC, you’ll need to forward the following ports:
Playing Anthem on PlayStation 4? You will need to forward these ports:
Want to play Anthem on Xbox One? Here are the ports you need to forward:
As I stated above, forwarding these ports resolved all of the connection issues that I was having with the game. Unfortunately, at the moment there aren’t any other good solutions available to help with connection issues in Anthem. So, if you continue to experience problems, just be patient and wait for EA and BioWare to sort out the servers.
Now that you know how to forward your ports for Anthem, and iron out some of the connection issues in the game, make sure you head back over to our Anthem guide for more help conquering this new world that BioWare has created.
