Lunark Kickstarter campaign approaching goal, ends next week

More often than not, crowdfunding platforms supply gamers with solid video and board games that may sneak under the radars of some. Lunark has the potential to be one such experience and is nearing its goal on Kickstarter.

Lunark is a 2D platformer "in the vein of '80s and '90s classics such as Prince of Persia and Flashback", the team expressed on the official Lunark Kickstarter campaign. It is built on pixel art, fully embracing a retro style, and will have players rolling, running, jumping, hanging, and shooting through alien ruins, a flying prison, a high-tech megalopolis, and a majestic forest.

The 2D adventure has accrued $40,766 of its $52,618 goal at the time this article was published, putting it right on the verge of realization with only six days left to go. In celebration of this week's holiday, Canari Games revealed three new tiers with a Valentine's Day theme of companionship. The Digital Game, Soundtrack, and Philanthropist tiers give crowdfunders a copy for themselves and for a friend or loved one, in addition to some other extra goodies depending on which you choose:

In Lunark, Noah, an AI created to preserve humanity, chose the moon as humanity's next home when Earth became inhospitable. The moon is considered an Ark, renamed Lunark, serving as a ship to evacuate chosen ones to the next superhabitable planet. Noah didn't plan for the new home to already be inhabited, though.

Players step into the shoes of Leo centuries after those events as he retraces his origins while a rebellion against the totalitarian regime of Lunark takes place. If this piques your interest, you have six days to contribute to the Lunark Kickstarter and less than 24 hours to take advantage of the Valentine's Day special.
