Season 8 of Fortnite Battle Royale is almost here, and players that finish some Overtime Challenges are in for a treat. Epic Games has decided that those who manage to complete 13 Overtime Challenges will receive a Season 8 Battle Pass for free! This is a limited time offer, so if you want to get your free Battle Pass and earn a lot more free loot, you’ll need to get in quick.
The Overtime Challenges event starts February 14 and ends on February 27, giving players almost two weeks to complete the necessary challenges to earn their Battle Pass. However, just because the event has started does not mean players can smash out all the challenges in one sitting. Epic Games will be releasing several challenges over the next week and beyond.
In order to get the Season 8 Battle Pass for free, players will need to complete 13 Overtime Challenges. The Overtime Challenges can be found in the Challenges tab of Fortnite. Listed within will be three challenges exclusive to Battle Pass owners and several below that anyone can complete. The Battle Pass owners can complete the first three golden challenges to unlock three special skins. To unlock these, simply level up the Season 7 Battle Pass.
Only a handful of challenges are currently available, with several still locked behind a time gate. This is to stretch out the event, preventing players from finishing the challenges in one sitting and to keep them coming back.
To get the necessary 13 challenges, you will need to continue playing as more challenges are unlocked.
As of this writing, only a handful of challenges have actually been revealed with several still locked away. However, as usual, some craft players have managed to datamine the challenges that will be coming up. Whether these make it into the game or are merely placeholders is yet to be seen, but it can at least give players an idea of the tasks they must complete.
The challenges are split up over the various areas of Fortnite, including the Battle Royale mode and Creative. There are only 16 challenges, which means players will need to complete the vast majority of the available challenges in order to get the free Season 8 Battle Pass. The best idea is to complete each challenge when it becomes available.
Players will need to collect 15 coins across any of the featured islands. Go to Creative, select a featured island and the search around for any coins. This can be done across multiple islands.
This Overtime Challenge is one of the easiest, as all you need to do is deal damage to Assault Rifle or Pistols. Obviously, the more damage you can do per shot will get this challenge done quicker, so picking an Assault Rifle is going to be the best option.
Players will need loot chests or ammo boxes at the motel at the northwest side of the map or at the RV park that is near Retail Row. You will only need to loot seven of these
This next Overtime Challenge should be easy for the vast majority of players. You will need to survive to be the Top 15 team in a Duos game with a friend. Simply enter into a Duos match and do your best to survive as long as possible.
Scattered around the map are campfires that can be used to heal. You will need to heal at three campfires in order to complete the challenge.
This challenge is pretty easy, just visit the major areas around the Fortnite island, like Retail Row.
To unlock this challenge, players will need to search two supply drops. This can be completed across multiple matches, so don't worry if you only manage to loot a single drop in one match.
Teamwork is important in Fortnite, so revive those teammates if you want to unlock this Overtime Challenge.
Finding the location of waterfalls in Fortnite is going to take a bit of time, so use the map below to locate all seven. The reason the circle around Loot Lake is so big is because you can find quite a few waterfalls around the lake. A good rule of thumb for finding a waterfall in Fortnite is to look around rivers and follow them to the end!
Much like the earlier Overtime Challenge, this challenge tasks players with dealing 500 points of damage using shotguns or SMGs. Pick up a weapon and start using it to damage (and hopefully kill) enemies. Obviously, a higher tier weapon is going to deal more damage.
Head to the northeast side of Fortnite's island to locate The Block, a big area perfect for building. Once there, start looking for chests or ammo boxes, as you'll need to open seven of them to complete this challenge.
This Overtime Challenge is going to require a little more effort than the previous challenge, as you will need to place in the Top 10. For some players, this should be a breeze, but if this isn't as easy for you and your squad, the best idea is to take it slow and play safe.
To complete this Overtime Challenge, get a friend and jump into a game of Driftin'. You'll need to complete 3 matches to complete this one.
This one is just good manners, you will need to know how to thank the bus driver and you'll need to do it seven times.
Simply head to the racetrack or the dance club and start searching for chests or ammo boxes to complete this challenge. You'll need to loot seven of the chests or ammo boxes.
This one is going to take a skilled hand as you will need to survive to the top 15 in a single match.
There are a lot of Overtime Challenges locked behind time gates, but the super sleuth FortniteGameLAT has done some digging and has uncovered what could potentially be all the challenges.
