Players familiar with full-scale open-world Ubisoft games will know that it’s not uncommon to sink from 70 to 100 hours into a single title. This was the case with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Far Cry 5 in 2018, but Far Cry New Dawn tones things down significantly. Below is a detailed breakdown of how long you should expect to spend playing Far Cry New Dawn.
As we’ve discussed in another article, there are 13 main story missions in Far Cry New Dawn. These take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes depending on the player and how quickly they work. There are also nine Guns/Fangs for Hire, five Specialists to recruit, 10 Outposts to liberate, seven Expeditions, and three different types of collectibles to find (Treasure Hunts, Music Players, Photographs). All this content takes place in Hope County (Except Expeditions), which is not too far off in size and scope as the Hope County you remember from Far Cry 5. However, there feels like less to do in the Hope County Far Cry New Dawn presents. That’s because there is objectively less to do.
To complete the main story while partaking in most of the surrounding content is about a 20-hour time investment. That could still leave you with some odds and ends to tie up, such as exploring every location on the map, but you would be pushing it to find more than 20 hours of engaging content in Far Cry New Dawn. Players that really like to take their time might make it to 30 hours, but I’m typically an explorer in open-world games, and 20 is a very fair number.
