Amiibo collectors got some good news from the February 13, 2019 Nintendo Direct. In an effort to continue filling in the Super Smash Bros. line of figures, Nintendo is getting ready to release the next batch of figures for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Following today's reveal of the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Ver. 3.0.0 update that's set to arrive in the spring, Nintendo made sure to remind everyone that more amiibo figures are on the way. Figures for Snake, Simon Belmont, Pokemon Trainer, Ivysaur, and Squirtle are set to release later in 2019. An exact release date for these figures was not given.
While there are dozens of amiibo figures for Super Smash Bros. not everybody is here just yet. There are still a handful of figures that have yet to be released. Richter Belmont comes to mind almost immediately. But Nintendo is making sure to roll out these figures on a regular basis. King K. Rool, Ice Climbers, and Piranha Plant (the game's first DLC character) are all set to receive their amiibo figures this Friday. GameStop is also set to receive new stock for a handful of legacy characters, including Cloud and Lucina.
The other amiibo question mark is for Joker, who's set to come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate before the end of April. But considering there isn't even gameplay footage for this new fighter just yet, it's understandable why there isn't an amiibo for him at the moment.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has only been out a little more than two months, but there's a lot to soak in for players that might have missed out to this point.
