The February 13, 2019 Nintendo Direct continued with surprising news for an existing game. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker brought the Wii U original to the Nintendo Switch, but now it's getting some all-new content, both paid and of the free variety.
A free update for Captain Toad set to hit the game later today, adding co-op for all of the game's existing levels. Both Toads will be able to explore every one of the game's stages and support one another.
On top of that, a new paid DLC pack is on its way, titled Captain Toad: Special Episode. This will add in five all-new courses, along with 18 new challenges. On top of that, new Shiny Crowns are being added to all of the game's existing stages. And with today's update, all of it can be explored with a friend.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Special Episode is set to release on March 14. It's available for pre-order today, with one course playable immediately. Nintendo will also offer a full bundle with the base game and the DLC soon.
Need an idea of whether Captain Toad is worth the pickup? First off, this answer should already be yes based on our original review of the Wii U version. But if that's not enough, we revisted the Nintendo Switch re-release and it's every bit as good.
