Is Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch?

Is Apex Legends available for the Nintendo Switch? Battle royale fans across the globe are left wondering if the latest free-to-play release from Respawn Entertainment is coming to Nintendo's hybrid handheld console. Given that other battle royale games like Fortnite are available on everything from PCs to consoles and mobile phones, gamers reasonably expect Respawn's latest to land on Nintendo's portable hardware. Is that the case? Read on to find out.

Is Apex Legends available for Nintendo Switch?

No, Apex Legends is not available for Nintendo Switch. What's worse, as far as we can tell, there are currently no plans to bring Apex Legends to the Nintendo Switch, either. Speaking in an interview with Eurogamer, Apex Legends' lead producer Drew McCoy said that there was "nothing [Respawn Entertainment] can currently talk about" with regard to future Nintendo Switch or mobile ports of the studio's new title.

Of course, that's not to say that Apex Legends will never release for the Nintendo Switch or other platforms. Given the game's immense success following its launch just earlier this month, it's possible that the crew at Respawn Entertainment are too busy dealing with server stress or other patches and balances to begin porting the game to other consoles. Still, one of the biggest draws to competitor Fortnite is that players can enjoy the game however and wherever they like — if Apex Legends is to topple Fortnite's throne, Respawn needs to get the game up and running on portable hardware.

It's sad but true: Apex Legends is not on the Nintendo Switch. Players can still enjoy the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but there's no official word on a Nintendo Switch release just yet. Until that time, gamers can learn more about Respawn Entertainment's latest battle royale release by heading over to Shacknews' Apex Legends home page.
