The Overwatch League is set to return next week for its second season. The competition is set to intensify with the addition of new expansion teams, bringing the League up to 20 teams. As Blizzard continues to aim high with the league, the publisher has announced a full schedule for this year's regular season to go beyond Twitch.
On Thursday, Blizzard detailed this season's collaboration with the Disney/ABC family of networks. Disney XD will act as the primary cable home of the Overwatch League. Starting next week, the network will air three Overwatch League matches: the final Thursday match (8:30PM PT) and the opening two matches each Sunday (12PM and 1:30PM PT). Those who miss any of the regular season action will be able to watch full replays on the ESPN App, including for games that aren't broadcast on Disney XD. Replays will also remain available on Twitch.
The Stage finals provide opportunities for teams to win extra prize money beyond what's initially offered and have proven to be some of the most intense matches of the regular season. The Stage 1 and 2 semifinals and finals will air on ABC, as will this year's Overwatch League All-Star Game. The Stage 3 finals will be carried on ESPN2. Blizzard adds that details on other major broadcasts, including for Homestand Weekends, the playoffs, and the Grand Finals, will be revealed at a later date.
While the Overwatch League regular season won't begin until next Thursday, Blizzard has a special Community Countdown event ready to go for this weekend. The various Overwatch League teams will play scrimmages on February 9-10, while various players, broadcasters, and community streamers will take part in special custom matches and events from February 11-13.
