If you're one of the last few unenlightened PlayStation 4 owners out there who hasn't made time for Tetris Effect just yet, consider taking the weekend off.
The Tetris Effect: Weekend Trial Demo is returning to the PlayStation Store this Friday, February 8 and will last through Monday, February 11. It will truly be available only for a limited time, and once it's deactivated, the demo will no longer be playable or available for download. That means you must have an online connection if you want to play the demo. You don't need it for the full game if you decide to purchase.
The demo comes with three stages taken from the game's "Journey Mode" campaign out of the 27 total stages as well as two Effect Modes. There are 10 in the full game, but you can try out Marathon Mode and Mystery Mode here. If you like what you see (and you undoubtedly will), the game's digital version will be on sale for 25% off for the first time for the duration of the weekend trial.
Tetris Effect has won several accolades for its high-quality take on the classic puzzle game, including Shacknews' Best PS4 Game of 2018, Best Music of 2018, and Best Sound Design of 2018. Our own Asif Khan reviewed the title for Shacknews and awarded it a 9 out of 10.
"Tetris Effect is one of the best games to be released this year, and Tetsuya Mizuguchi's team has truly changed the game for the better. This is the update to Tetris no one knew they needed, but now that we have it, it is impossible to imagine stepping back," he mused. Yes, it's that good. Now the next step is getting the demo and strapping in for what will undoubtedly be one of the coolest trips of 2019 so far for new players.
Let us know if you end up taking your first Tetris Effect trip this weekend!
