Slay the Spire offers a unique and challenging way for dungeon-crawler fans to get their fix by blending the fun of both a rogue-lite and a deck-building card game together. What results is a fun, but difficult experience that has sucked tons of players in as the game progressed through Early Access, eventually releasing on the PC and Nintendo Switch. Still, though, many players have been looking for a way to play the game on their Android or iOS devices. If you’re one of these people, here’s what you need to know.
Currently, there isn’t really any known plan to bring Slay the Spire to Android or iOS. Unfortunately, this means that the only real mobile way to play the game is going to be to pick it up on the Nintendo Switch, which you can easily swap from docked, TV mode, to handheld mode. Of course, carrying around a Nintendo Switch isn’t always easy, depending on the job that you’re setting out to do, so it won’t always be an option.
If you’re still looking for ways to get your fix, though, there are a few different options available that you can take with you on your mobile phone.
The Android and iOS marketplaces are chock full of various applications and games. But, if you’re looking for a good dungeon crawler to help you get your fix while you’re away from your PC or Nintendo Switch, then there are a couple we can recommend.
If you’re looking for a game like Slay the Spire for Android, then look no further than Alive or Asleep. Set within a dark world inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos, Alive or Asleep is very similar to Slay the Spire in both gameplay and style. This makes it easy to swap between the two games as you move from PC to your phone, and while it isn’t the same game, and progress won’t carry over, you can enjoy the quirky systems that make Slay the Spire such an experience. You can pick up Alive or Asleep for free on the Google Play Store.
While Dream Quest doesn’t offer the same level of visuals and aesthetics that Slay the Spire or Alive or Asleep do, it really nails down the deck-building mechanics and the rogue-lite features that make the other two games stand out so well. The only real downfall here is that you’ll need to pay $2.99 to purchase the game on the iOS app store, but for a title that runs as smoothly as it does, and offers such a high replay value, this shouldn’t really be viewed as a negative. You can purchase Dream Quest from the app store.
Of course, there are also a ton of other great dungeon-crawlers available on both Android and iOS, these are just two that feature the same style of mechanics and game design as Slay the Spire, making it easy to dive in and enjoy yourself.
