If you're a fan of the indie game Celeste and its soundtrack, you'll definitely want to check out the new Celeste Piano Collections album.
The Celeste Piano Collections album is a part of Materia Collctive's Piano Collections series, where popular soundtracks are adapted to soft, melodic piano music in place of their normal, rousing renditions. For this particular release, Trevor Alan Gomes worked on arrangements and performed new riffs on Celeste's music, originally written by composer Lena Raine.
"Lena has a way of brilliantly hyper-saturating the music with rhythmic ideas, counterpoint, and even multiple lead lines, so taking those full-to-the-brim tracks and transforming them into equally complete piano solos was my greatest challenge to date," Gomes said of the collection.
The album is available today, and you can buy it and stream it on Spotify, iTunes, and Bandcamp. You can purchase the album via Bandcamp on MP3, FLAC, and a selection of other formats that work for you. If you're interested in vinyl, you can also purchase that format as well.
Here's the track list:
If you're a fan of Celeste's music, you might be interested to know that there's also a jazz and lullaby album already out as part of the Prescription for Sleep series that you can purchase as well.
As far as Celeste, Shacknews voted it the Best Indie Game of 2018. Our own Ozzie Mejia had this to say:
"It's heartwarming, but it's also tough as nails. It's creator Matt Thorson and his staff of friends hitting his peak as a game designer, taking the captivating visual style of TowerFall, adding the difficulty of his own custom Super Mario Maker stages, and adding in a universally-engaging story. That makes Celeste Shacknews' Best Indie Game of 2018."
If you need some additional quality music to add to your collection, this looks like a great choice.
