The developers behind Celeste, one the Shacknews crew's favorite games on 2018, are still working on some new content to keep fans engaged. DLC Chapter is on the way and it won't be ready for the anniversary, unfortunately, but will feature some of the hardest levels in the game and no strawberries.
Matt Thorson of Matt Makes Games revealed details for this upcoming Celeste DLC Chapter. It will be one continuous chapter with no B-Side content, is after the current hardest levels in difficulty, has no strawberries, features new items and mechanics, and will be free on all platforms.
Strawberries are the main collectible in Celeste, so the lack of them in Celeste DLC Chapter makes me think that the platforming in these new levels will be exceptionally challenging enough without deviating away from the main paths to collect. There's a chance one of the new items could be a new collectible, though, so we'll have to wait for more information to see what's in store.
Matt Makes Games recently revealed that Skytorn, a Metroidvania from the indie studio, was canceled so the team could work on something new. Switching over to a new project likely means it'll be a while before we get our hands on it, so the team could continue to bolster Celeste with some new content in the meantime. Celeste earned a nine out of ten from Shacknews Senior Editor Ozzie Mejia and he celebrated the game's challenging nature, beautiful soundtrack, pacing, touching story, and more. Don't miss out.
Celest is available now on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It earned out Indie Game of the Year for 2018 and you should check out the full top 10 to see what top-quality game experiences you may have missed out on. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
