Tropico fans will have a bit longer to wait for the sixth main entry in the series, as Tropico 6 is getting a bit more polish before it debuts.
Publisher Kalypso Media has announced that Tropico 6 won't be seeing its debut on PC, Mac, and Linux platforms until March 29, with a retail version arriving on April 2. The decision was made to push the release out to "allow sufficient time to implement as much of the fans’ feedback as possible and work on final balancing and polishing to raise the level of quality expected from this flagship brand to what the Tropico fans and community deserve." In other words, they're taking fan feedback into account to work on the game further before releasing it to the public.
Kalypso Media owner and managing director Simon Hellwig took to social media to discuss the delay with fans on social media channels with an open letter.
"We know this is short notice and many of you, especially the ones who have pre-ordered, played the beta and gave such comprehensive and valued feedback, might be disappointed – but we think we can make the game better by adding some more icing on the Tropican cake," Hellwig wrote.
Patient fans are getting a special thank you in the form of the game's first major DLC being offered free to anyone who preorders the game by 1 PM ET on January 10. The free DLC will be added to players' games when it releases sometime in Q2 2019.
You can pre-order Tropico 6 now from the Kalypso Shop, Steam, and other digital platforms as the standard version that comes with instant access to the closed beta, or the El Prez Edition. The El Prez Edition comes with two different tourist outfits for your Presidente, a flamingo pond for your palace, digital soundtrack, digital calendar, and instant beta access.
If you were looking forward to Tropico 6, it's probably worth waiting a bit for the extra polish, so you'll just have to be a bit patient for now.
