AMD has won the race to get their first gaming-centric consumer GPU to market. During their keynote at CES 2019, AMD officially debuted the new Radeon 7 graphics card. Based on the Vega architecture that originally debuted in 2017, the Radeon 7 promises more performance with less power consumption than its predecessor.

Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, showed off the new graphics card to the crowd at the keynote. It comes in a silver shroud, sporting 3 fans and some red accents. The slides shown at the keynote indicated that the card would have 16GB of HBM memory, up from the 8GB that the original Vega 56 and Vega 64 GPUs shipped with. Su promised that Radeon 7 would offer 25% more performance at the same power consumption as the first generation Vega GPUs.

Su introduced gameplay footage of the upcoming Devil May Cry 5 run at 4K ultra settings on the new GPU with frame rates in the neighborhood of 100fps being displayed on screen. 4K footage of Massive Entertainment’s The Division 2 was also shown running at 4K, but no performance numbers were provided. AMD Radeon 7 will launch in Febrary for $699.
