Bethesda Softworks and Behaviour Interactive have announced that both parties have resolved the lawsuit previously brought against Behaviour.
You may recall that Bethesda had filed suit against Behaviour and others due to a dispute regarding its Fallout Shelter mobile game and Behaviour's Westworld mobile title. Last year, Bethesda accused the team of using assets from Fallout Shelter for the Westworld game, though now it looks like everything has been settled.
A statement released via Bethesda reads as such:
"Bethesda Softworks and Behaviour Interactive jointly announced today that the parties have amicably resolved the lawsuit Bethesda brought against Behaviour and others related to the Fallout Shelter and Westworld mobile games."
There was no other information provided about the suit's resolution, nor what this means in terms of settlements or anything like that, but the issue seems to have been resolved to both parties' satisfaction.
When the lawsuit was originally filed, Bethesda alleged Behavior had stolen designs, code, artwork, and more from Fallout shelter for Westworld after the team worked on Fallout Shelter in 2014. Bethesda sought damages and the shuttering of the Westworld game. Publisher Warner Bros. stated that the claims were "baseless" and the assets had not been stolen.
"Warner Bros. has been assured by the game developer, Behaviour Interactive, that Bethesda's allegations are untrue and that none of Bethesda's code was used in the Westworld game. Moreover, contrary to Bethesda's baseless accusation, Warner Bros. at no time 'induced' Behaviour to use the Fallout Shelter code in Westworld," stated the publisher.
It remains to be seen what caused this amicable settlement between the two parties, but it certainly looks like what could have certainly been a legal bloodbath is all clear now.
