Anarchy is an Exotic Grenade Launcher in Destiny 2 that has garnered a lot of attention since it was introduced during Season of the Forge. While it’s always been a good weapon, Season of the Splicer saw its meteoric rise to fame thanks to some powerful Artifact mods. However, the Anarchy nerf has seen the gun lose its footing as the answer to every question. So, let’s dive into how to get Anarchy and whether it’s still good.

Previously, the only way players could get the Anarchy Exotic grenade launcher is to complete the Scourge of the Past raid that was added in Season of the Forge. However, as of Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Scourge of the Past was removed from the game. This means the only way to get Anarchy is now from the Monument to Lost Light kiosk in the Tower. You will need to spend 240 Spoils of Conquest in order to unlock this extremely powerful Exotic Grenade Launcher.
Anarchy has a host of perks, all of which are forgettable, barring one that is confusing and one other, its incredibly powerful Exotic trait.
Moving Target on Anarchy is a bit of an odd one. Rarely will you be aiming down sights when using this weapon, and if you are, you’re doing it for a split second to lob a grenade into the distance. The others all work together to boost the grenades’ velocity and weapon handling. Now, the real winner is the Exotic trait, which is extremely simple and quite powerful.
With six grenades in Anarchy, you can shoot down six bolts that, if close enough, chain Arc lightning between one another. The distance is quite large, allowing you to spread out a net of Arc damage. This chaining effect continues to pulse until the grenades expire, dealing damage on each pulse.
Yes, Anarchy is still good. It remains an extremely powerful Exotic Grenade Launcher that should be in any self-respecting player’s repertoire of weapons. By chaining Arc damage between the bolts, players can effectively lock down areas with significant ease. This allows players to “set and forget” and instead focus on dealing damage elsewhere.
The ability to fire off some grenades and deal damage with other weapons is extremely useful in boss fights. For fights such as the Templar in Vault of Glass, players can attach a bolt to the boss and one to the ground, effectively dealing two lots of Arc damage to the boss as the lightning chains around. While this happens, players can switch to other weapons and deal damage.
During Season of the Splicer, the Paradrome Cube seasonal Artifact introduced an Unstoppable Grenade Launcher mod and the Breach and Clear mod. These mods elevated Anarchy to heights not previously reached.
"Stick to wall, ground, human… then FFFFFRRRRRYYYYY! Hehehehehehehe." —Siviks, Lost to None
"You little rat. You took my warm hospitality and stomped all over it like an ungrateful child. Is that any way to treat one of your dear 'brethren'?"
Siviks laughed. A cold, twisted laugh. Then offered up a large wad of spit at the Spider's feet.
The Spider just rolled his eyes. "Let me know when you're ready to make nice," he said.
Siviks' laugh now grew into something maniacal. He topped it off with another wad of spit, this time directly in the Spider's face.
Once he'd wiped his brow, the Spider leaned forward, looking Siviks in the eyes, and said, "I think our little rat here needs a time out. Perhaps someplace with the rest of the vermin."
The many hands of Spider's men gripped and restrained Siviks. As they dragged him off, he shouted, "You… as bad as all Fallen! Worse, even! A friend even to humans… All must die!"
The Spider simply waved goodbye, taunting, "Bon voyage, my friend!"
Once Siviks had gone, the Spider looked longingly toward where he had stood. He sighed a deep, regretful sigh before continuing with business as usual.
The Anarchy Exotic Grenade Launcher remains a viable Power weapon in Destiny 2. It’s unique Arc chaining effect allows players to lock off areas or deal continual damage to a boss while using other weapons. Getting Anarchy will take a bit of work these days, as it requires quite a few Spoils of Conquest to be purchased.
