Video games are rare in the entertainment industry because they allow us to dive into worlds that would otherwise be alien or unknown. And while the latest title from Outerloop Games isn't set in outer space or on some dreamlike extradimensional plane, it does give players a chance to check out one of the more unique real-world pursuits known to earthlings: falconry.
The studio's latest game is called Falcon Age, and its a virtual reality title for PSVR that aims to give players the sense of what it feels like to form a close bond with a falcon companion and make use of its unique talents. Players assume the role of Ara, a woman who has been "wrongfully thrown in jail for a minor infraction," and must contend with the forces of the planet's mechanical overlords. Check it out in the trailer below.
Through the first-ever Kinda Funny Games presentation, fans got a fresh look at the VR falconry title as well as a 2019 release window. Taking to the PlayStation.blog last August, creative director Chandana Ekanayake has previously stated that Falcon Age has been deliberately designed with the PlayStation VR HMD and PlayStation Move controllers in mind. However, those without Move controllers will still be able to play the game with the DualShock 4 if needed.
Details on the "first-person falcon hunting adventure" are still relatively slim, but the world's dusty environments, mechanical adversaries, and collection of VR-enhanced weapons and objects certainly look to hit all the right marks. Stay vigilant for Falcon Age's release for PSVR sometime in 2019. A word of warning, though: don't be too quick to trust a guy with a falcon.
