TGA 2018: Survival shooter "coopetition" Scavengers announcement trailer revealed
Announced during The Game Awards 2018, Scavengers is a SpatialOS-powered shooter coming from Midwinter Entertainment.
A big reveal for The Game Awards 2018 was Scavengers, a "coopetition" shooter that gave off Destiny vibes in its debut trailer during the show. Playtests will start in 2019 and more information will be revealed in the near future. It's the first title being developed by Midwinter Entertainment and is powered by SpatialOS.
Sign-ups for the 2019 Scavenger playtests are live now on the official Scavengers website. Here's a breakdown of the game's pillars, taken from the site:
Scavengers brings the excitement and unpredictability of class-based teambuilding to its unique blend of competitive and cooperative survival gameplay. Every round is a perfect puzzle for you and your team to unlock together.
Things in Scavengers that will try to kill you: Savage Outlander raiders, mutated Scourge monstrosities, extreme weather, gnawing starvation, opposing players, and the occasional angry grizzly bear. Things in Scavengers that will keep you alive: Your teammates, your wits, and your aim. Good luck!
Opposing teams in Scavengers are more than just targets, as you’ll need to work together to achieve larger goals. But once those goals are achieved…all bets are off. Will you trust others? Will they trust you? Welcome to Scavengers.
The Game Awards 2018 is going on now and Shacknews is giving you all the updates as quickly as possible. The Game Awards 2018 is also a celebration of the previous year’s releases, so stay tuned for award winners after the show closes.
