Destiny 2 update 1.29 features Super improvements and new pinnacle weapons

Published , by Sam Chandler

Destiny 2 has entered the Season of the Forge, and with it comes a new update and patch notes. Update 1.29 on PlayStation 4 and update 2.1.0 on PC and Xbox One features a slew of improvements to several class Supers, Exotic weapon and armor tweaks, and sees Mayhem return as a 6v6 rotating playlist.

With this update Bungie is also adding a few new weapons labelled “pinnacle weapons”. These weapons are rewards for completing long-form quests and act as a means of providing Luna’s Howl-level weapons to activities outside of competitive Destiny. Players can now visit each vendor from a major activity (Zavala, Shaxx, and Drifter) and acquire these quests. They are long, but the guns are worth the effort.

One of the most noteworthy changes in the latest update is to the Trench Barrel perk on the IKELOS shotgun. Players will know this shotgun as the current meta for doing just about anything, as it can dish out a lot of DPS thanks to the aforementioned perk. Unfortunately, this perk has been hit with the nerf hammer where instead of lasting for a certain amount of time now only lasts for three shots before it must be refreshed. What affect this has on overall DPS is yet to be seen.

Though not listed in the patch notes, the Season of the Forge brings with it the Black Armory for those who have purchased the Annual Pass. The Black Armory will introduce a new raid to the end-game, which we will be covering as part of our ever-expanding Destiny 2 complete strategy guide.
