Popular streaming platform Twitch announced that TwitchCon Europe, the European expansion of its annual US convention, will be hosted at Berln's CityCube in 2019.
TwitchCon Europe's location was chosen based on its "centralized location," according to Twitch organizers, as well as Germany's status as one of the "top performing countries in terms of both streamers and viewership." It was also chosen because of its accessibility, accommodations, and various attractions aside from TwitchCon.
“TwitchCon was created to celebrate and inspire everyone who plays a role in the Twitch community," Kate Jhaveri, Chief Marketing Officer of Twitch shared in a statement. "It’s a vibrant, growing, and global community and we’re excited to bring TwitchCon to Europe for the first time. While there will be a lot of familiar elements to anyone who has ever attended TwitchCon in the US, we’re taking inspiration from the location and distinct cultures across the region to ensure the experience is relevant to all the audiences.”
TwitchCon is a massive celebration of Twitch streamers and the community, including mods, developers, publishers, and brands that work to make the platform the success it's become. TwitchCon was held earlier this year in the US in San Jose, CA and sold out, attracting tens of thousands of visitors. TwitchCon Europe will do much of the same, inviting community panels, meet and greets, exhibitors, and a whole lot more.
More details about TwitchCon Europe will be shared in the next few months, including ticket sale information, partner appearances, exhibitors, programming, and more. With the announcement out of the way, we're looking forward to seeing what this new branch of the event will have for attendees. We'll likely know more about whether we'll be able to stream parts of it, too, since most of us are a little too far away from it to attend, most likely. Will you be heading to TwitchCon Europe?
