Fantasy survival game Rend introduces Classic and Exploration game modes

Published , by Charles Singletary Jr

Frostkeep Studios is building something special in the Rend early access and, this, the team has updated with two new modes for players to try in the Public Test Server (PTR): Classic and Exploration. These two additions offer an open-ended option separate from the base Faction War mode.

Classic mode, Rend players will lay siege to enemy bases, wage PvP wars, capture control points, and collect player bounties on 60-player servers. All of this will go on without Reckonings, Rend's end-game event, so gameplay can go on with no interruptions.

Exploration mode offers a purely PvE experience, with no ability to attack players. Players can band together in clans in both modes, progression is per-character, but there's no reputation system. Spirits are typically tied to end-game results, but, without them in these modes, they remain harvestable for XP bonuses and Spirit Redisude.

Additional update information, including planned changes to research sparks, can be found on the Rend update blog post. There's also an updated roadmap for the game as it continues to grow throughout early access. Rend is available in early access now and these new updates will go live in the main build sometime this month. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
