As it turns out, a lot of people want to play Red Dead Redemption 2. How do we know this? Oh, just the fact that the game has sold boatloads of copies in just eight days.

After launching the Wild West adventure on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Rockstar Games saw a massive return after the game began setting records. Red Dead Redemption 2 is now sitting in commercial history as the biggest opening weekend for any form of entertainment and over $725 million in retail sell-through in just its first three days out in the wild.

The news comes as part of Take-Two Interactive Software's latest earnings call, laid out in an official press release. The most impressive part of it all is the fact that it sold-in more units in its first 8 days out on retail shelves than the original game, Red Dead Redemption, did in its first 8 years on consoles. It's now sold over 17 million units worldwide. Those are some crazy numbers.

"As a result of our strong second quarter performance and outstanding early results from Red Dead Redemption 2, we are raising our financial outlook for fiscal 2019, which is also poised to be a record year for Net Bookings and Adjusted Operating Cash Flow. Looking ahead, we have a strong development pipeline across our labels and are exceedingly well positioned for long-term growth and margin expansion," said Take-Two's CEO and Chairman Strauss Zelnick.
