Oculus co-founder Nate Mitchell denies reports that Rift 2 PC VR HMD has been cancelled

Co-founder and Head of Rift at Oculus Nate Mitchell has denied any reports of cancellation of a Rift 2 PC VR HMD following Oculus co-founder and former CEO Brendan Iribe's departure from the company.

After Iribe announced his departure on Monday, several posited (via TechCrunch) that his decision was made because of a potential cancellation of the Oculus Rift 2 after a series of internal changes at Facebook. TechCruch stated that Iribe and a Facebook executive actually had "fundamentally different views" on Oculus' future and that Iribe was simply uninterested in what he described as a "race to the bottom" when it comes to performance.

Mitchell has gone on record to say that the tea is "driving forward" on the Rift/PC platform with "new hardware, software, and content." There's no talk of any cancellation, but there could always be more at play here than what's immediately available on the surface.
