Time-travel RPG The Waylanders Kickstarter live, new trailer focuses on combat formations

The Kickstarter campaign for RPG The Waylanders is live and the development team has unveiled a new trailer to show off one of the game's most significant features. A unique hook for this RPG is the use of combat formations with the player's party mates and you can get a look at this in action below.

The Waylanders has accrued $31.279 of its $150,000 Kickstarter goal at the time this article was written. It brings Celtic cultures to life around a collection of mechanics built on over 40 hours of gameplay and two different time periods (Celtic and Medieval) that are affected by your actions. Here are the other key features that the development team hopes draws in curious RPG fans to the crowdfunding campaign:

Real-time combat with tactical pause, character creation, and 36 classes (6 basic and 30 advanced)
Play from a top-down isometric perspective that can be shifted to a third person perspective on the fly
Story and combat inspired by RPG classics Dragon Age and Neverwinter Nights 2
12 different combat formations (2 per class) sees players fuse characters to provide varied and technical combat options

Another interesting element of The Waylanders stems from the Kickstarter's first stretch goal. Telltale Games let go of nearly all of its team in September, including narrative writer Emily Grace Buck. If The Waylanders reaches the $200,000 stretch goal, she'll be joining the project.
