Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is here and players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 want to know how to play Blackout, Zombies, and multiplayer split-screen with their friends. The good news is that split-screen is incredibly simple to setup in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

How to play split-screen

For those who are playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on console, setting up split-screen for some couch coop fun is a simple process, though there are a few settings to tweak. As for PC gamers, it doesn’t look like split-screen is an option.

Players on PlayStation 4 will need to activate their console as their primary console on both their main account and on the account of the guest player before they can play Blackout, Zombies, or multiplayer in split-screen. Keep in mind that whoever is the guest will need to make their console their primary console after the gaming session has concluded. Once this is done and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is booted up, look in the top-right of the screen, it should state that split-screen can be started once someone presses the X button.

PlayStation 4

  1. Sign-in to PlayStation account
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select Account Management
  4. Select Activate as Your Primary PS4
  5. Select the Activate option
  6. Use second controller to sign into second account
  7. Repeat steps 1-5
  8. Press the Home button on first controller
  9. Load up Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  10. Press X on the second controller to add second player to the lobby

For players on Xbox One, ensure that the console is set as “My home Xbox” to avoid any connectivity issues, this can be done on both the main account as well as the second player’s account. After booting up Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and reaching the main lobby, there should be a notification up the top-right that says split-screen can be started by pressing the A button on the second controller.

Xbox One

  1. Sign-in to Xbox account
  2. Press the Guide button
  3. Go to Settings
  4. Scroll down to Personalisation
  5. Select My home Xbox
  6. Choose Make this my home Xbox
  7. Load up Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  8. Use second controller to sign into second account
  9. Press A on the second controller to add second player to the lobby

By setting up split-screen in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, two players can experience all that Black Ops 4 has to offer, including the standard multiplayer, the iconic Zombies mode, as well as the ground-breaking new battle royale mode, Blackout.
