Very few things in life get gamers pumped up as much as a new Call of Duty release, which is why we've been closely following the imminent launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the latest shooter sensation from the team at Treyarch. Though the game has several different Special Editions and Season Pass options ready to roll out later this week, players who are hoping to check out Black Ops 4 without breaking the bank will be able to do so thanks to Redbox, who will be offering the game for one- or three-night rentals at wallet-friendly prices.
Starting this Friday, October 12, players will be able to rent Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 at Redbox kiosks all across the nation. Renting the game will set gamers back $3 for a single night or $7 for a three-night rental, which ought to be ample time to get a feel for the game's latest mechanics and features.
Of course, being able to rent the full retail version of Black Ops 4 on launch day will give players the chance to dive into Blackout, the series' first foray into the ever-popular Battle Royale genre. This new mode pits a number of players against one another within the vast Blackout map, providing the opportunity to take down opposing players, pick up new weapons and loot, gun down hordes of zombies, and even face off against powerful creatures like the Blightfather. Blackout is certainly one of the biggest highlights of Black Ops 4, and there's little doubt that it will be the first stop for many day-one buyers.
Buzzworthy as Blackout may be, however, there's still a lot of content on offer within Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for players who can't get enough of multiplayer online shooters. Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Hardpoint will all be making a return in the latest Black Ops release, and fans will also be able to jump into Control, a new gameplay mode that pits two teams against one another as they fight for control over specific map points.
Just about everything within Black Ops 4 has been fine-tuned to suit the tastes of modern gamers, providing an appropriate balance both for newcomers as well as series veterans. The popular co-op Zombie mode is making a blood-soaked return, this time with three distinct narrative directions; new weapons and Scorestreak perks provide vast combinations of potent offensive capabilities; and ten new Specialists have made their way into the game's base multiplayer modes, giving hero-shooter fans a way to tailor their skills and abilities to match their individual play styles.
The wait is almost over. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 12. Don't miss out on the action—be sure to stop by the nearest Redbox kiosk to rent the game, or reserve a copy through the Redbox website or official mobile app.
