The Telltale games saga continues. This time around, one of the employees laid off last week if filing a lawsuit claiming the gaming studio violated California and national labor laws. The suit claims the employees were let go "without cause" and without "advanced written noticed as required by the WARN act."
Polygon reported on the suit, which was filed by former employee Vernie Roberts on behalf of himself and fellow former Telltale employees. The WARN Act requires that employers with 100 or more employees must provide 60-days notice in advance before mass layoffs. Regarding what qualifies as a "mass layoff", a loss of 50 to 499 employees counts if they make up at least 33% of the employer's active workforce. Reports suggest that around 25 employees remained after last week's layoffs, so the 250 released by Telltale certainly matches the criteria here.
