Apple's GiveBack trade-in program features a robot that can recycle nine different iPhone models

During the live special event hosted by Apple, the crew revealed a significant improvement for the the Apple GiveBack program. Typically, by using it, consumers who have moved on from their iPhone can submit it to Apple and they will either repurpose it to someone that can use it or recycle it properly for free.

A robot named Daisy was shown during the event and it can disassemble nine different models of the iPhone and reuse the individual materials for future products. The Apple GiveBack effort is so that the company becomes more eco-friendly and will have to mine for materials even less. "It's good for you, but it's a huge win for the planet," the team stated.

How Can I Return An iPhone Using The Apple GiveBack Program?

Consumers will be able to mail in their devices or take them to Apple stores. Apple staff will supply you with a trade-in kit or shipping label if you want to mail it in.

How long is the Apple GiveBack online trade-in process?

It takes, generally, two to three weeks. If the submitted device qualifies for the GiveBack program, users will get either an Apple Store gift card or a refund on the purchase as described on the official Apple GiveBack webpage. If it doesn't qualify for instant credit toward the purchase of a new product, it will be sent on to recyclers.

How much will I get for trade-ins?

The trade-in credit depends on device, model, manufacturer, and condition. There's a questionaire that must be answered and, at its completion, an estimated amount will be shared. Once the device is received via in-store or online submission and the condition is verified, you'll receive that full refund.
