Just in case you missed out on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles when it first debuted on the GameCube, you're about to get a chance to try it out on a brand new console. Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition ahead of Tokyo Game Show 2018, and it's coming to PlayStation 4 and Switch next year.
The game features friends gathering together for a multiplayer adventure to collect crystals to protect the world from Miasma, and while there's a single-player component, it's obviously built for multiplayer up to four players. Previously it allowed players to join in via Game Boy Advance units, so it remains to be seen whether this will require multiple Switch units or simply Joy-Cons to play, or how the PlayStation 4 version will handle online play.
This will mark the first time the game has ever been released on a non-Nintendo console with the PlayStation 4, and it will no doubt court plenty of players, especially since the original GameCube release sold over one million copies worldwide. It features a bit different of a vibe from the other classic Final Fantasy games, but it's still wholly enjoyable, especially if you've got friends around.
Looking forward to giving the game a try now that it's not such a pain to get up and get started? Make sure you mark your calendars for next year. And be sure to check back at the Shacknews 2019 Video Game Release Schedule to see everything else that's on offer. It's going to be a very packed year.
