Ace of Spades, Cayde-6’s iconic hand cannon, is the last piece of weaponry he ever used against his enemies, and now players can unlock this Exotic hand cannon for use in Destiny 2: Forsaken. The quest to unlock the Ace of Spades is rather lengthy and best attempted over the course of a couple of play sessions – or all at once, I’m not the boss of you.
To unlock the Ace of Spades, players will need to complete the quest, Cayde’s Will, a multi-step quest given to the player by Banshee-44, the Gunsmith, at the beginning of the Destiny 2: Forsaken campaign. With the quest received, there are several other steps before players can begin using this powerful Exotic hand cannon.
In order to receive the quest, players must complete the first mission in the Destiny 2: Forsaken campaign, Last Call. Return to the Tower and speak with Banshee-44 to receive Cayde’s Will. The one goal here is to complete the Destiny 2: Forsaken campaign.
Upon completing the campaign, return to Banshee-44 to receive the next assignment. This next step is worded incorrectly on the pursuit. Instead of getting invasion kills, players must actually use a hand cannon to kill an invader in Gambit. Players won’t need to fight over who gets to invade, they must simply kill whoever invades their arena. The difficulty of this is immediately obvious: the invader has an overshield. To complete this step, players should consider using a powerful hand cannon such as Sturm, Better Devils, or even Midnight Coup.
The next step requires 250 kills in a Strike while using a hand cannon. A good idea can be to load up any Strike and then patrol the area looking for enemies to kill as opposed to continuing through the mission. Alternatively, the Strike Lake of Shadows is a good option given the large quantities of Taken enemies.
Another trip into Crucible is required for the next step. Players will need to get 25 precision kills using a hand cannon. Simply killing a player isn’t good enough, aim for the head! Use the Quickplay playlist to speed up this process. With this section complete, players will need to move onto the next step, finding Cayde’s caches.
There are four caches players will need to search in order to complete this step of the quest. Finding the stashes can be a bit difficult given how well Cayde-6 was able to hide them, though there is an on-screen tooltip that lets players know when they’re getting close.
To find Cayde’s cache on Io, players will need to head into the Wraith Mines to the large drill piercing the earth. Start at Lost Oasis and head north, through the canyon and into Terrabase Charon. In the open arena, stick to the left-hand side and enter the base to the Wraith Mines where a large drill can be found pointing down to the earth. Cayde’s chest is found in this room, up high on a rocky shelf.
To find Cayde’s cache on Nessus, players will need to head into the Sunken Cavern cave near Exodus Black. Start at the Exodus Black spawn point and immediately turn right and head into the cave system. Continue through the cave, going past the Vex teleporter and into the next large cavern with the floating rocks. Look behind the golden perimeter to spot the chest.
Cayde’s cache on the Tangled Shore is deep within the Jetsam of Saturn area, far down a cave system. Start at Thieves’ Landing and head left through the passage toward Jetsam of Saturn. When entering the ship area, stick to the left to enter the wreckage and go up a small hilly ramp, then turn left again to find an entrance to a tunnel. Pass through the tunnel system to discover several lush green caves full of Hive and some orange Hive-infested areas. At the end of this section is a crashed Fallen Skiff, behind it is Cayde’s chest.
The last of Cayde’s caches is found in Firebase Hades, near where players must dunk a solar orb during the Arms Dealer Strike. Start at the Gulch fast travel point, turn around and follow the road toward Firebase Hades. Head into Firebase Hades using the access vent in the wall. Run through the halls to reach the large outside area. Cut across the area and use the connecting walkway to reach the other side and then immediately turn right. At the back of this area is a garage with a tank, behind the tank is Cayde’s cache.
After finding all four of Cayde’s caches, players will be directed to complete one final mission, Ace in the Hole.
Ace in the Hole is a simple mission that takes place on Titan. The only objective here is to open up all 10 of Cayde’s caches and listen to the recordings. The chests are easy enough to find as players will have the chest detector activated. Look up high in the Hive infestation to locate some of the more well-hidden caches. Return to the Tower and speak with Banshee-44 after collecting all 10 caches.
Speak with Banshee-44 once more to unlock the Ace of Spades, an exceptional hand cannon with some truly remarkable perks. Players from the original Destiny will no doubt remember the perk Firefly and lamented its change into Dragonfly. However, Firefly returns – with an added boost – to Ace of Spades’ perk line-up.
The quest to unlock Ace of Spades is long and trying, demanding players take down opponents in Crucible and face their emotions regarding Cayde-6 one last time. Those who preordered Destiny 2: Forsaken will have access to Cayde’s Exotic Stash, which includes a sleek ornament for Ace of Spades.
