Today, Treyarch and Activision took to the official Call of Duty YouTube channel to share a new gameplay trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. This time, those that check it out get a look at the highly discussed Blackout mode that brings the popular battle royale game mode into the world of Call of Duty.
In the trailer, which clocks in right over the two minute mark, there's a whole lot to take in. The Blackout mode stays true to Treyarch's promise to include land, sea, and air vehicles, as ATVs, helicopters, trucks, and tactical rafts are scattered throughout. Squads of four are frequently shown, but it's likely that the mode will feature similar structure to other popular battle royales, which allow for solo, duo, and four-man squad matchmaking.
As far as Blackout's format, it looks like there's a purple barrier that will be used to push players to a closing area of conflict. There are also the previously confirmed zombies for the mode, but it isn't clear how they're utilized. The trailer shows a monkey bomb being tossed and one could imagine, based on the trailer's cutting, that they summon the zombies. We'll have to confirm this at a later time.
A couple other things spotted are various skins for players, ordinances like grappling hooks for traversal and RC cars likely wired with explosives, a portable shield that can be placed, swimming, and air drops. Hit the Chatty to let us know if you spotted something that we missed!
