Cable cutting has been a thing for many years now. Some people just don't want to be tethered to traditional cable and satellite television plans, and it's easier than ever to sever that tie and go to a convenient online subscription thanks to services like PlayStation Vue. In addition to other broadcast networks, PS Vue has just added 200 new local news stations, meaning that "over 97% of the US population [now] has access to at least one major broadcast station" from the four major US news networks.
Speaking over on the PlayStation.blog, Dwayne Benefield, vice president and head of PlayStation Vue, announced that the 200 new local channels now allow the streaming video service to offer a total of over 450 different local stations. The bulk of these offerings come down to ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC stations, meaning viewers shouldn't have too much trouble finding a station near them, perhaps even one in their hometown.
Users who are interested in finding out which new stations have been added can do so over on the PS Vue website. A quick glance reveals that PS Vue now offers all of this writer's own local news stations, so it's fair to say that the PS Vue team has done its work making sure that even affiliates serving smaller cities have local representation.
Television is all well and good, but it's no proper replacement for video games. After scoping out your local news stations on PS Vue, be sure to stop by our video game release schedule 2018 to catch up on the latest new and upcoming releases.
