All Nascent Dawn quest steps in Destiny 2
Every step of all Nascent Dawn quests received from Ana Bray.
The Nascent Dawn chain of missions in Destiny 2 is a long form quest which rewards players with different versions of a Braytech Scout Rifle. Completing all the quest steps takes a lot of time, and with a few steps being unclear, it can be slightly confusing. Players who want to get their hands on the fully upgraded Polaris Lance Exotic scout rifle will need to work through each step, in sequence.
All Nascent Dawn quest steps
Each step of the Nascent Dawn quest is delivered to the player by Ana Bray at reset every week. Players will need to complete the previous week’s Nascent Dawn quest before beginning the next quest. A few of the steps require using the reward from the previous week, the Braytech RWP MK II scout rifle – if players have dismantled it, a spare one can be purchased from Ana Bray.

Nascent Dawn 1/5
The first Nascent Dawn quest requires players to complete various tasks around Mars, all of which are fairly easy. The most complicated step is the third, where players must collect four Resonant Stems and combine them into an Override Frequency, and then take this new item to the Sleeper Node found in the Dynamo Apprach. The reward for this step is that more Override Frequencies can be made and other Sleeper Nodes can be tracked down.
- Complete 3 patrol missions on Mars
- Complete a Lost Sector
- Combine 4 Resonant Stems into an Override Frequency and track down the Sleeper Node (Dynamo.Approach.Arch)
- Upload memory and return to Ana Bray
Nascent Dawn 2/5
The second Nascent Dawn quest requires players to earn Javelin kills, which can be done in an Escalation Protocol or Public Event. The Heroic adventure can only be attempted once all adventures on Mars have been completed. The Ma’adim Subterrane Lost Sector is found to the right of the Glacial Drift fast travel point. Completing this step rewards the Braytech RWP MK II scout rifle.
- 25 Javelin kills
- Complete Heroic Adventure, Psionic Potential
- Open Sleeper Node in Ma’adim Subterrane Lost Sector
- Upload memory and return to Ana Bray
Nascent Dawn 3/5
The third Nascent Dawn quest requires 10 levels of Escalation Protocol be completed. This can be accomplished by completing the first level ten times or any other mixture. The Sleeper Node in Olympus Descent is at the very south end of the map, through the cave system below the Glacial Drift fast travel point. The reward for completing Nascent Dawn 3/5 is a Masterwork version of the Braytech RWP MK. II scout rifle.
- Complete 10 levels of Escalation Protocol
- Complete 3 Strikes
- Open Sleeper Node in Olympus Descent
- Upload memory and return to Ana Bray
Nascent Dawn 4/5
The fourth Nascent Dawn quest requires players to use the Braytech RWP MK. II scout rifle to earn various types of kills, complete a special mission on Io, and then find the Sleeper Node at the top of Rasputin’s chamber, right before the entrance. The reward for completing Nascent Dawn 4/5 is the Polaris Lance Exotic scout rifle.

- Use the scout rifle to earn 20 standard kills
- Complete mission “Fury” on Io
- Open Sleeper Node in Rasputin

Nascent Dawn 5/5
The fifth Nascent Dawn quest requires an array of tasks be completed including getting multikills with the Javelin, finishing PvP matches, completing a special mission on Mars, and opening the Alton Dynamo Sleeper Node – which can be found near number 39 in the all Latent Memory Fragment map. The reward for completing Nascent Dawn 5/5 is the Polaris Lance Catalyst.
- 15 Javelin multikills
- Complete 3 PvP matches
- Disrupt Hive ritual (Nokris Strike) by completing the Nascent Dawn 5/5 quest on Mars
- Open Sleeper Node in Alton Dynamo

Polaris Lance Catalyst
Though not technically part of the Nascent Dawn questline, the Polaris Lance Catalyst can be confusing for players to figure out. The first part is simple enough, get enemy kills, but the 50 Perfect Fifth kills isn’t entirely clear.
This second requirement refers to the Exotic trait of the Polaris Lance, Perfect Fifth: Precision hits return ammo to the mag. Landing 4 precision hits loads a delayed Solar explosive round for your next shot. The burn that is applied when the Solar explosive detonates must kill an enemy for the Perfect Fifth kill requirement. The best place to complete this is in the Castellum in the Levithan raid, as there are dozens of respawning enemies, with no time limit.
Once the Catalyst has been completed, the Polaris Lance will receive Dragonfly, which causes enemies to explode when killed with a precision shot.
- Defeat enemies
- 50 Perfect Fifth Kills
With all parts of the Nascent Dawn quest completed, players should now have a rather powerful Exotic scout rifle to call their own. Be sure to check out the Shacknews Destiny 2 complete strategy guide for more walkthroughs and quest breakdowns.
