Making money in Monster Hunter: World is pretty easy, with Optional quests and Investigations handing out tens of thousands of Zenny. Players can even make some extra coin by selling trade-in items at the Provision, though many players will no doubt be wondering whether they should sell these items or hold onto them in case the items are needed for something else.
Players are free to sell their trade-in items whenever they please at the Provisions stand in Astera. Trade-in items are only used to earn more Zenny, and as such, are not used in the crafting of any valuable armor, weapons, charms or the like. Some of the more common trade-in items are steel, silver and golden eggs, golden scales, and some types of ores (Dundormarin), all of which fetch a decent amount for players looking to give their wallet a quick bump.
Despite trade-in items being good to sell immediately, it can also be a good idea to hold onto them. Monster Hunter: World doesn’t shy away from offering players various avenues to earn Zenny, but there are just as many things to spend it on. As players upgrade their armor and weapons, purchase new charms and supplies, funds can quickly dwindle, so having a few trade-in items saved for moments like these can be helpful.
The takeaway from this is that it is safe to sell those trade-in items as soon as they are received and it’s also totally okay to hold onto them for a rainy day when funds are running low. The main distinction is that trade-in items are only used to get more Zenny, they are not used in the crafting or upgrading of any critical items.
